Parish Church of the Virgin Mary of the Assumption
In 1699, construction was concluded on the parish church dedicated to the Virgin Mary of the Assumption. The curved facade is of Baroque style. The interior has three naves with a horseshoe apse.
The old parish church of Santa Maria dell’Olmo was, at that time, old and dilapidated and no longer fit for purpose; it would be demolished in 1749. It was located near the present bell tower.
The oldest church, however, was Santo Stefano located in Piana and dating back to the eleventh century. Recent excavation efforts have also brought to light the possibility that the church was built upon Roman ruins.
